Tumpak Sewu and Goa Tetes: A Hidden Paradise in East Java
Tumpak Sewu is hands down one of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Indonesia. The view from the top is already stunning, but the real adventure starts when you trek down to the base. It’s a bit challenging — expect bamboo ladders, slippery rocks, and a little water — but it’s totally worth it. Standing at the bottom, surrounded by the massive curtain of water, feels surreal.
Just a short walk from Tumpak Sewu, you’ll find Goa Tetes, a mystical spot where water flows down mossy cliffs and into caves. It feels like something out of a fantasy movie. You can even walk behind some of the falls!
Both spots are raw, natural, and not too crowded, which makes the experience even more special. If you love nature, waterfalls, and a bit of adventure, this combo is a must-visit when you’re in East Java!

07.00- Rise and shine! Early pick-up from your hotel or meeting point in Malang. Get comfy in the car for a 2.5 to 3-hour drive to Tumpak Sewu
10.00- Stretch your legs and enjoy the epic panoramic view of the waterfall from above. Take your time for photos — the lighting is usually perfect in the morning!
10.30- Begin the descent down to the base of the waterfall. It’s a bit adventurous — expect bamboo ladders, rocks, and a little bit of water. Make sure to wear proper shoes and bring a waterproof bag. Stand at the foot of the massive curtain waterfall. Feel the spray and enjoy the view! Take photos, soak it all in (literally), and enjoy the cool vibes. Continues to explore Tetes Cave which is so beautiful cave. Its a time for swimming in a cold water but still fresh.
13.00- Time to climb back up to the parking area. It’s a bit of a workout, but totally worth it. Quick rinse/change if needed, then relax.
13.30- Turn Back to Malang. Long Drive to HOtel around Malang City / Surabaya City.
16.30- Drop off. Tour ends — rest up and relive the day’s adventures!
